Eliott Smith - Say Yes
Perhaps the most beautiful song that Smith ever wrote. Unlike so many of Smith's other songs, it's happy which brings a really particular vibe, a peeking ray of light at the end of a grey rainy day.
The Chemical Brothers - The Private Psychedelic Reel
The closing track of one of the essential albums of the 90s UK big beat scene:-)
Bruce Dickinson - Tears of the dragon
I included Iron Maiden earlier this year, but with one of their first singer's songs, so I had to include Bruce Dickinson. Here is the closing track of his 1994 solo album after he left Maiden.
"The song is a 6-minute ballad, written by Bruce alone, and it is undeniably the best track here. It is Dickinson's little catharsis, a redeeming song about the overall pressure he felt in the Maiden years." source.
IAM - Demain, c’est loin
This is a follow-up for Orelsan last week. Probably the band which opened my eyes to the whole hip-hop universe as a teenager, with their album L'Ecole du Micro d'Argent (the school of the silver mic). IAM is arguably the most prominent French hip-hop band, and this is their best track.
Led Zeppelin - When the levee breaks
What better song than this one to close this year's playlist, with the groovy pounding drum, a harmonica and Robert Plant's timeless voice.
